  • The magnitude of the food service industry globally, in terms of trends, growth opportunities, and how manufacturers and processors make entry into this marketplace
  • Overview of the American, European, Chinese and Japanese economies
  • Cultural diversity - Food cultures and different regions we will visit
  • Competitive nature of the food and beverage industry and what it takes to be profitable and successful
  • Examining the strategic marketing activities necessary to create and maintain a string global brand for a food or beverage
  • Examine retail procurement patterns, trends in convenience and cost management, and general trends in firm strategies
  • Discuss strategies of the mass merchandiser. The focus on driving non-value adding costs out of the system, using preferred suppliers working under strict contracts
  • Production agriculture and first handlers and processors. How do growers and producers understand the supply chain in order to supply the processing industry with desired products?
  • Explore important trends in the management of food safety issues and the food business regulatory environment that relate to food safety
